Birding at the Blue Ridge Centergbheron.jpg

On the fourth Saturday of each month (except December) the Loudoun Wildlife Conservancy leads a bird walk at the Blue Ridge Center. We meet at the Neersville Volunteer Fire station on Rt 671 at 8:00 a.m. the morning of the walk. Beginners are welcome and encouraged to attend our monthly bird walks. Blue Ridge Center's valley meadows and heavily forested mountain slopes are habitat and home to a great diversity of birds. Come out and see why Blue Ridge Center is a stop along the Virginia Bird & Wildlife Trail! Please bring binoculars. Questions: contact Joe Coleman, 540-554-2542, jcoleman@loudounwildlife.org. Free for members and nonmembers.

Birds of the Ridge Trail

This outstanding setting provides a wonderful opportunity for people of all ages to learn about and observe birds. Families, hikers, birders and anyone interested in enjoying our beautiful setting is invited to stop by our office and check out a Birds of the Ridge Daypack.  Equipped with the tools of a naturalist, each pack contains binoculars (suitable for children and adults), a field guide, trail map, suggested activities and sketching materials.  We highly recommend using the Daypack while strolling along our Birds of the Ridge Interpretive Trail.

IMG_7314.JPGFarming Tours

At Mountain View Farm, we know that healthy soil means healthy food for healthy people. We work closely with our Extension Agents and soil scientists from local universities to understand the nature of our soil and make it as healthy and vibrant as possible. All of our produce and flowers are grown without chemical fertilizers or pesticides. Our livestock graze in our pastures, drink spring water, and never receive antibiotics or hormones. Shawna DeWitt and Attila Agoston are leasing this historic site from the Blue Ridge Center. They are working to re-create a true family farm.

Farm Tours are available in spring, summer and fall.  Please contact
Jeffrey Alvey to schedule a tour.
