The Blue Ridge Center for Environmental Stewardship seeks a part-time staff person to serve as our Volunteer Coordinator and Volunteer Project Leader

The Blue Ridge Center for Environmental Stewardship is looking for an independent, creative, self-starter to work an average of 12 hours per week as our Volunteer Coordinator and Volunteer Project Leader.   This position involves:

  • Managing volunteer coordination: Keep track of volunteers and their skills and interests.  Volunteers may be individuals or groups.  Contact volunteer applicants and existing volunteers, match their skills and interests to organizational needs; if projects are already planned, align volunteer to project; track engagement; facilitate any training that is required for the project.
  • Leading some on-site volunteer projects:  Based on guidance from Blue Ridge Center Board Members or volunteer coordinator suggestions based on noted volunteer skills and interests, develop and lead on-site volunteer projects.  Possible projects include removal of invasive species, clean up of areas around the Education Center, trail maintenance, trail sign repairs/painting/cleaning, other habitat management.
  • Other duties:  attend periodic staff meetings.

This is a paid hourly contract position at $18/hour. Work schedule will vary and will include some evenings and weekends, depending on program needs.
