Welcome to the Blue Ridge Center for Environmental Stewardship, a 900-acre forest and farm reserve providing environmental learning and outdoor recreation opportunities. A community-supported organic farm, an archaeological site and several miles of hiking trails are among the attractions our land has to offer.
See directions to the Blue Ridge Center for Environmental Stewardship.
With our partners who use our land for their programs, we strive to understand and interpret our landscape and demonstrate thoughtful land stewardship in our community and beyond.
The land was purchased in 1999 by the Robert and Dee Leggett Foundation to:
- Conserve the heritage of the Appalachian Trail viewshed;
- Preserve and study the history the Neersville farming community represented by the cabins and farmsteads on our land;
- Restore, interpret and steward our land's ecology which is home to rare and threatened species of plants and animals, and interpret our geology, which the U.S. Geologic Survey calls a unique landscape;
- Help retain the rural heritage of Western Loudoun County, Va.
Through the activities of our partners and our programs that are open to everyone, the Blue Ridge Center is a community resource offering public access to one of Loudoun County's largest contiguous forests and open spaces.
