The Blue Ridge Fellows program offers grants to individuals conducting scientific research or who are exploring the relationship between the environment, the arts, and humanities.
DANIEL E. GAWTHROP — A WORK FOR CHORUS AND ORCHESTRA
Daniel E. Gawthrop, a Blue Ridge Fellow, was commissioned by the Robert and
Dee Leggett Foundation to create a major new work for chorus and orchestra.
This new choral symphony premiered Nov. 4 at the Kennedy Center in
Washington, D.C.,
in a stirring performance by the Master Chorale of Washington. Donald
McCullough
conducted. "In Quiet Resting Places" celebrates the glories of
creation and awakening of our spiritual connections with the natural world.
