Water Quality
WATER QUALITY
Good water quality is essential to healthy ecological systems. Industrial pollutants, agricultural and residential runoff, septic-system leakage, and acid rain can all contribute to water quality decline.
The Blue Ridge Center for Environmental Stewardship waterways benefit from regular monitoring, sampling, and testing by a number of the Center's education partners.
Similar field results are submitted to the Loudoun County Environmental Indicators Project lead by the Department of Geography of the George Washington University. The project is a five-year study to assess the process of change in the county's water quality, air quality, natural habitat, impervious surfaces, and other elements of environmental quality.
