American Discovery Trail
The American Discovery Trail is a new breed of national trail traversing cities, small towns, forests, mountains, and deserts all in one trail. Its more than 6,300 miles of continuous, multi-use trail links community to community, stretching from Cape Henlopen State Park, Delaware, to Pt. Reyes National Seashore, California.
The American Discovery Trail is America's first coast-to-coast trail, and it is designed for hiking, bicycle, and equestrian use. The American Discovery Trail Society (ADTS) is the nationwide, membership-based, nonprofit group whose purpose it is to manage the trail. Although the trail has been mapped across the U.S., it is still being developed and is in the process of being authorized as part of the National Trails System.
THE ADTS WEB SITE
The American Discovery Trail Society seeks to promote its vision of a coast-to-coast trail and educate its web site visitors on all the American Discovery Trail has to offer. ADTS's site was designed with strong navigational cues for the visitor and maps throughout to illustrate the vast resource the organization seeks to build and maintain. Increasing membership is a key goal. An online form to join ADTS was created with secure server options for those wishing to charge memberships to their credit card.
As the dream of a coast-to-coast trail becomes a reality, the American Discovery Trail web site will grow and support this unique trail and its diverse view of America.
