Potomac Conservancy

Potomac Conservancy is a regional land trust dedicated to the conservation and enhancement of the natural, scenic, recreational, and historic qualities of the Potomac River and its surrounding watershed lands. Potomac Conservancy administers a comprehensive land-protection program; develops and implements a variety of land-restoration projects; and, provides counseling and other conservation support services for more than 70 other land trusts across four states and the District of Columbia.

It partners with other land trusts, conservation organizations, local, state, and federal agencies to more efficiently achieve land protection and restoration goals. The Potomac River provides irreplaceable drinking water and world-class recreational opportunities to millions of people, and is home to national wildlife treasures such as the American Bald Eagle.

THE POTOMAC CONSERVANCY WEB SITE
Potomac Conservancy is in the process of redesigning its web site to highlight a broad concept of regional protection for the Potomac River watershed. Giving the web site visitor a graphical idea of the extent of the Potomac River Basin, which includes parts of four states and the District of Columbia, tributaries, headwaters and end-point at the Chesapeake Bay, will be accomplished with an animated graphical image as an entrance to the site.

Once inside, visitors will find a reorganized site that strongly features the education and protection efforts of Potomac Conservancy. Visitors will be encouraged to support the work of the organization through personal action, membership gifts, and donations.

A major component of the new site will be password-protected access for 70 land trusts active in the Potomac watershed. The Potomac Conservancy web site will offer those users a database of land-protection and legal experts willing to offer help and advice; a threaded bulletin board for timely discussions; electronic mailing list updates; a wealth of legal templates that can be downloaded by the user; and links to sites that support protection of the Potomac watershed.

Potomac Conservancy is an active community leader in the effort to protect and preserve a river of great historic importance and a natural resource of undeniable benefit to the millions of people who live within its broad reaches.
